This one-year international consulting project aimed to design and implement a demand-side management strategy for all 30,000 buildings in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. Under Winfried Haas project management and leadership, a multidisciplinary team of experts collaborated to identify the top 300 buildings with the highest priority for energy efficiency improvements. Comprehensive energy audits were conducted on selected buildings to assess consumption patterns, peak demand drivers, and CO₂ reduction potential. The project delivered a phased action plan to optimize energy use, reduce peak electricity loads, and lower carbon emissions across the entire building portfolio, supporting Abu Dhabi’s sustainability and climate goals.
