Energy Efficiency Retrofit of major Air Handling Units for Terminal 1

Handling over 17 million passengers annually, Hamburg Airport is the largest international commercial airport in northern Germany and ranks fifth among all German airports.

As part of a major modernization program in Terminal 1, the main air handling units were upgraded to significantly improve energy efficiency and indoor climate control. The project focused on reducing energy consumption and operational costs while maintaining high comfort standards for passengers and staff.

Our services covered the entire project lifecycle: developing the energy efficiency concept, detailed design and planning, preparation of tender documents, contractor selection, and full construction management through to commissioning. This ensured the successful implementation of a sustainable, high-performance ventilation system tailored to the airport’s operational demands.
