City of Lindow (Mark), Sustainable District Heating

Renewable District Heating for a City

Combining Conventional and Renewable Energy Sources

In the town of Lindow (Mark) near Berlin, a district heating network supplies public institutions, residential high-rise complexes, private homes, and local businesses with thermal energy. Heat is generated in two plants using both conventional fuels and renewable sources such as wood chips.

Under the leadership of Winfried Haas, a dedicated team managed the operation of the heating plants and the district heating grid. Energy efficiency measures were implemented to reduce CO₂ emissions and lower operating costs, thereby strengthening the long-term sustainability of the energy supply.
