Townhouse Quarter Prenzlauer Gärten, Berlin

Sustainable District Heating for Residential Townhouse Quarter

Decentral Sustainable District Heating for a Townhouse Compound.

Located in the Prenzlauer Berg district of Berlin, the Prenzlauer Gärten residential quarter comprises around 300 apartments across several modern buildings, each with an average living space of 75–120 m².

The neighborhood’s energy is sustainably supplied by its own combined heat and power (CHP) plant, generating heat and electricity on site with high efficiency and reduced CO₂ emissions. The heat is used exclusively for the quarter’s needs, ensuring a reliable supply independent of external district heating networks.

Our services included full project management for the design and construction of the CHP-based district energy system, leading a multidisciplinary team of design engineers, detail planners, and construction supervisors. Following commissioning, we were also responsible for several years of 24/7 operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting.
